This website was developed to provide information on the I-84 / Route 8 Waterbury Interchange Needs Study (WINS), and provide the opportunity to learn more about the study as well as keep up-to-date on the latest news on meetings, reports, and public involvement.

The study team has completed a draft of Technical Memorandum # 2. This report presents the initial alternatives being considered to address the operational and safety issues within the I-84/Route 8 interchange study area. The report can be viewed by clicking here.

The alternatives have been screened down to include the following:

• A no-build alternative which incorporates safety, transportation system management (TSM), downtown circulation, and transit improvements.
• Two full-build alternatives involving full reconstruction of the I-84/Route 8 Interchange.
